Frequently Asked Questions: Sign makingMay 6, 2019
As top-rated sign makers in and around the Portsmouth area, we are constantly being asked questions about our sign-making process, and general sign design, as well as the numerous services we provide to commercial customers in the region.
Here are some of the most frequenting inquiries that come our way:
What sort of materials can be used to make a sign?
In theory, you can make a sign on any material you like. In practice, it’s advisable to choose something that is thin, flexible, and hard-wearing. Some of the more popular materials chosen by our thousands of satisfied customers over the years include wood, vinyl, steel, aluminium. PVC, fabric, plastic, and acrylic. Have a word with one of our signage experts when you call, and they can recommend the best material for your location.
Will you be able to maintain our business identity through your signage?
At Rowthorn Signs Ltd, we understand the importance of branding to any size of business. Our design consultants will work with you to ensure the uniformity of imagery across your brand so that potential customers immediately associate your signage with your company, and the services it provides.
What will the finished product look like?
At Rowthorn Signs Ltd, we are so much more than your average sign makers. We are with you from your first phone call, guiding you through the phone and production process, every step of the way. You can check out some samples of our finished signs on the website to get an idea of the sort of quality you’re dealing with, but rest assured that, whatever sign you have in mind, we will do it justice.
Can I use copyrighted images in my signage?
You certainly can, so long as you have the express written permission of the copyright owner. This will normally be in the form of a contract or a license from the holder of the image’s copyright. Without this legal C, we will not be able to reproduce the image on the sign for you.
How long does it take to make a sign?
It depends very much on the size, scale, and complexity of the design you want us to work from. While we have been known to complete simple commissions within twenty-four hours, signs that require intricate designs or unusual shaping can take considerably longer. As ever, our team will be able to advise you further during your initial phone call.
What kind of maintenance will my sign require?
Usually very little, although, outside signs will, by necessity, require more attention than interior signs. When we create a sign for you, we will let you know of any special requirements it might have. For the most part, soap and water will do the trick.
How long will my sign last?
All Rowthorn Signs are designed and produced to be hard-wearing, though how long they will last depends largely on the material they are made of and whether they are located indoors, or outdoors. Naturally, exposure to the elements will shorten the lifespan of any sign, but we take great efforts to mitigate against this, treating all external signs with an appropriate weather-resistant coating.
